ORIENTE
A street-theatre-workshop with TEATRO DUE MONDI

Children or teenager, musicians or actors, amateur or professional artists can be involved in this show. The seven actors and the director of TEATRO DUE MONDI will teach them elements of the street-show Oriente like choral movements, rhythms, songs, mask building.
The participants will perform in the show, making it become a big procession that will transform the town into a theatre scenery where everybody, even each single spectator, will become an active part of the story.
There are different possibilities to involve people from your town:
1. Street-theatre-work-shop for children or teenagers, amateur or professional actors:
- common movement in the street – learning choreographic structures of the show
- construction of masks and costumes – learning how to use the mask
- physical expression – studying the character
- using the voice in the street – learning of songs which are part of the show
- how to fascinate street spectators – studying expression of body and eyes
2. Participation of local choirs or brass bands
It can be very easy to involve local choirs or brass bands. The whole show Oriente is accompanied by Sicilian march music that we use to amplify with a mobile sound system.
The pieces can be studied by local musicians who will substitute the sound system. They will follow the show to accompany and comment on the story like in a South-Italian religious procession.
Several traditional Italian polyphonic pieces we use to sing during the show can be studied by local choirs who will follow the action and join the actors in different moments to “help” with their singing.
