King Ubu is the result of a rewriting of Alfred Jarry' s "pataphysic" text and tells about the grotesque adventures of the Ubu-family.

Ubu is nothing but another Macbeth, instigated by his Lady, the only thing he has to do is to repeat that homicide which has already been related thousands of times , in theatre as well as in life. A king kills a king, he takes his place and prepares for the unavoidable: to be killed himself by a new king.

The story repeats itself, and as in every real tale, and by the way as in reality, a third king arrives.

Ubu escapes to other territories and new adventures, where he, a theatrical character, can live and combat in his war with wooden swords.

It is a caustic and visionary Ubu, with a bitter political scratch and the magic atmosphere of a tale. Theatrical machines being operated by the actors-craftsmen, electrical horses, armour-dummies, masks and moving towers animate the story of Ubu, the massacrer of nobles and financiers, judges and peasants, tremendous devourer of food, contrafigure-puppet of the tyrants that are forever protagonists of the tragedies.

"I am only an actor" says Ubu in the scene of the last battle "who struggles amongst improbable and theatrical memories, the autobiography of a King Ubu, who the story cannot tolerate, as can the theatre. (...) And, on the other hand, I am not here to die for real, I have taken precautions and carry with me all what is theatrically necessary to make you believe (...)".
